BACTERIAL DISEASES :
TYPHOID:
-Caused by bacterium Salmonella typhi.
-Salmonella typhi enters the small intestine through food and water contaminated with them and migrates to other organs through blood.
-intestinal perforation and death occur in severe cases.
- symptoms are high fever(39-40 c), weakness, stomach pain, constipation, headache and loss of appetite.
-WIDAL TEST is a confirmation test for typhoid.
PNEUMONIA :
-it is caused by STREPTOCOCCUS PNEUMONIAE and HAEMOPHILUS INFLUENZAE.
-These bacteria infect alveoli of the lungs. THE ALVEOLI get filled with fluid causing decrease in respiratory efficiency of the lungs.
-pneumonia spread by inhaling droplets/aerosol from infected individuals or even by sharing glasses and utensils with patients.
-in severe cases, the lips and finger nais may turn gray to bluish in color.
